Event Rules

The Gauntlet is a limited-time tournament event where, in exchange for rupies or crystals, players may enter and compete for a grand prize. Rewards are based on the highest number of wins achieved and you will receive participation rewards such as sleeves and emblems just for entering!

Free Match

One match may be played for free prior to entry. Winning the free match will allow players to start their first attempt with one win. Losing the free match will not count towards anything, and players will start with zero wins and zero losses.

Rewards Requirement

An entry limit is set for each Gauntlet, and each entry allows for a set number of attempts. An "attempt" continues until the established number of wins or losses is reached. After all attempts are completed, players will be rewarded based on their highest win count.

For example, in Academy Gauntlet: Rotation:
Entry Limit: 1 Entry
Attempts per Entry: 2 Attempts
Matches per Attempt: Up to 9 Matches
Completion: 8 Wins or 2 Losses

Example of Successful First Attempt
Attempt 1: 8 wins and 1 loss

The player receives rewards after their first attempt for becoming Champion and the entry concludes. Players who became Champions on their first attempt do not make a second attempt.

Example of Unsuccessful Attempts
Attempt 1: 3 wins and 2 losses
Attempt 2: 5 wins and 2 losses

The player receives rewards after their second attempt for achieving 5 wins. Only the highest win count goes towards rewards and so the player will not receive rewards for achieving 3 wins on their first attempt.

Note: Playing in the free match does not qualify a player to rewards if the player does not enter the Gauntlet.

Participation Rewards

Players who enter the Gauntlet will receive additional items such as sleeves and emblems. Participation rewards will vary by event.

Event Entrance

Players will be able to purchase an entry with rupies or crystals during the entry period. Each entry allows for a set number of attempts. An "attempt" continues until the established number of wins or losses is reached.

Entry Limit

An entry limit is set for each Gauntlet. After a player completes all attempts in an entry, they may be able to purchase another entry, up to the allowed limit set for the Gauntlet. However, Champions will not be able to purchase additional entries, and some Gauntlets will have an entry limit of one.

Entry Period and Battle Period

Each Gauntlet will have a set entry period and battle period. Players will not be able to start free matches or enter a Gauntlet once the entry period has ended. However, as long as a player started their free match within the entry period, they will still be able to enter the Gauntlet even if the free match concludes during the Battle Period.

For example, in the Academy Gauntlet: Rotation:

Entry Period: 8:00 p.m., May 2 – 4:00 a.m., May 5 (PT)
Battle Period: 8:00 p.m., May 2 – 1:00 p.m., May 5 (PT)
(Players will not be able to enter the Gauntlet between 4:00 a.m., May 5 and 1:00 p.m., May 5 (PT), unless they started their free match prior to 4:00 a.m., May 5 (PT))

- If a player entered the tournament prior to the end of the entry period, they will still be able to start remaining attempts.
- As long as it is within the battle period, players will be able to continue an attempt and proceed with matches even if the entry period has ended.
- Attempts cannot be carried over to the next Gauntlet even if a player has remaining attempts when the battle period ends.
