Changes to Cards in the March 27 Release

Greetings, Shadowverse fans! In the March 27 (PT) release, we'll be making changes to 10 cards. This is an explanation of what we're changing and why.

What's Changing

1. The one-card restriction on Aria, Guiding Fairy will be lifted.
2. Arthur, Knight King's cost, attack, and defense will be reverted to their original state.
3. Falise, Leonardian Mage's pre-evolve effect will be reverted to its original state.
4. Ouroboros's effect will be reverted to its original state.
5. The one card restriction on Gremory will be lifted.
6. Spawn of the Abyss's effect will be reverted to its original state.
7. Lion of the Golden City's cost will be reverted.
8. Vengeful Puppeteer Noah's cost will be reverted.
9. Deus Ex Machina's cost will be reverted.
10. Abyss Summoner's cost will be increased by 1.

For a limited time after the update, Abyss Summoner will produce more vials when liquefied. Since Aria, Guiding Fairy; Arthur, Knight King; Falise, Leonardian Mage; Ouroboros; Gremory; Spawn of the Abyss; Lion of the Golden City; Vengeful Puppeteer Noah; and Deus Ex Machina are being strengthened, they will not produce more vials when liquefied.

The Current Game Environment

We've gone over high-ranking match data for early March in the Rotation and Unlimited formats and found the game environment to be diverse, with no deck archetype in particular holding an overwhelming win or usage rate.

Also according to our data, we've found that in Rotation players going first had win rates of 51.3% (compared with 51.9% in early February) across all deck archetypes, while in Unlimited players going first had 52.5% (compared with 52.7% in early February).

We review one card restrictions or card bans for Unlimited when a new card set is added. We also take a look at cards which were modified while they were in Rotation that will soon be rotating out, and make a decision on whether to restore cards to their original state. This time we are either lifting the one card restriction or reverting stats on one card from each class.

From our look at the match data for Unlimited, we noticed that the usage rate for Portalcraft is lower in comparison with the other classes. We've therefore decided to strengthen one card. We believe this change will further diversify the Unlimited game environment.

Finally, we examined the early-March match data of all players playing Take Two and found that the win rate for Runecraft stood out at 59%, especially when compared with other classes. Of the numerous bronze and silver cards that contributed to this win rate, we found that Abyss Summoner's contribution rate was especially high and will therefore be making a change to this card.

For players going first in Take Two, we found that there was a 48% win rate across all deck archetypes.

Take Two Runs

These changes will also be applied to all Take Two decks after maintenance, even decks that are being used in the middle of a five-match run.

Future Changes to Cards

We routinely review match data in the Shadowverse Team. In order to maintain a great game environment, we change card costs and effects and boost the number of vials that are available from liquefying cards when their strength is decreased. This includes both of our constructed formats, Rotation and Unlimited. In addition to the card changes we've made in the past and card changes targeted at Rotation, we will designate cards to have a one-card restriction or card bans for Unlimited.

Any future changes to card costs and effects will be announced in advance, and then changes will generally be made the next day. Even if there are no changes made to cards, we'll still make an announcement. If emergency changes are deemed necessary, we may make changes, specify restrictions, or specify banned cards before the scheduled update.

That's all for this round. May the cards be in your favor!
