Format refers to the ways you can play standard matches. Throwback Rotation is a format where you compete using cards from a previous rotation. You can use cards from the five consecutive card sets of the specified rotation in addition to basic cards. Unlimited is a dynamic play format that lets you use all available cards except Resurgent Cards. Custom Rotation is a format where you can build decks from previous rotations. Card sets 1–6, or any five consecutive card sets from the 3rd set through to the 32nd can be selected.

*With some exceptions, the abilities of the cards from the monthly card pool will be as they were before they were originally rotated out.
*Card abilities will also change within the Unlimited and Custom Rotation formats to match the current card pool in Throwback Rotation.

  Custom Rotation is a format where you can build decks from previous rotations. Card sets 1–6, or any five consecutive card sets from the 3rd set through to the 32nd can be selected. All cards from your selected card sets, including Resurgent Cards, can be used in addition to basic cards.
  
  Depending on the card sets selected, your leader will gain bonus effects during the match. Certain rotations may also have 1-card restrictions or banned cards in effect.
