Changes to Cards in the May 21 Update

Greetings, Shadowverse fans! In the May 21 (PT) update, we'll be making changes to 5 cards. This is an explanation of what we're changing and why.

What's Changing?

1. Mechablade Soldier's cost will be decreased by 2 and its defense will be decreased.
2. Johann, Ironforged Hero's attack and defense will be increased.
3. Aenea, Amethyst Rebel's cost will be decreased by 2 and its attack and defense will be decreased.
4. Colossal Skull Lord's effect will be changed.
5. Boost Kicker will no longer appear when building a Take Two deck.

Since the first 4 cards are being strengthened, they will not receive a vial bonus when being liquefied.
Also, since Boost Kicker's change does not affect its strength and it is not receiving a ban or restriction in the Unlimited format, it also will not receive a vial bonus when liquefied.

The Current Game Environment

Going over high-ranking match data in the Unlimited format from early-May, we have found several deck archetypes with a high win rate. However, we have determined that there are no cards that need an immediate weakening or restriction. Our reasoning behind this decision is that the Unlimited format has a very fluid and shifting meta. With the release of each new card set, the adding of additional cards, and these regular increase in older cards power we see the meta shift. Older decks will change and adapt or new deck architypes. We will be keeping a close eye on how the Unlimited format evolves following the May 21 (PT) update and the release of the World Uprooted additional cards.

Looking at high-ranking match data in the Rotation format from early-May, we found no top deck archetypes with an overwhelming win or usage rate. We also anticipate the Rotation format will change with the release of the World Uprooted additional cards. Therefore, we have decided that there are no cards that need to be weakened at this time. However, we have taken note of classes with significantly low win and usage rates. In order to promote more diversity in Rotation, we have decided to strengthen select cards in these classes.

Going over all Take Two match data from early-May, we found that Portalcraft has had a very high win rate at 59.4%, much higher than any other class. When comparing the most highly picked cards to win rates, Boost Kicker was the most highly represented. Now, Boost Kicker's appearance rate will be set to 0% in Take Two, all other Portalcraft Silver rarity cards will have their appearance rate increased.

Future Changes to Cards

We routinely review match data in the Shadowverse Team. In order to maintain a great game environment, we change card costs and effects and boost the number of vials that are available from liquefying cards when their strength is decreased. This includes both of our constructed formats, Rotation and Unlimited. In addition to the card changes we've made in the past and card changes targeted at Rotation, we will designate cards to have a one-card restriction or card bans for Unlimited.

Any future changes to card costs and effects will be announced in advance, and then changes will generally be made the next day. The next card adjustments are scheduled for June 28 (PT).

Even if there are no changes made to cards, we'll still make an announcement. If emergency changes are deemed necessary, we may make changes, specify restrictions, or specify banned cards before the scheduled update.

That's all for this round. See you next update!
